Dulce De Leche

Yippee... I finally made my own Dulce De Leche!

I heard so much about DDL & saw bloggers using it as an ingredient in their bakes. I got so curious about how DDL tastes. The only thing that hold me back from trying till now is the process of making DDL. Why? Because this can of condensed milk needs to be simmer in a big pot of water for 3-4hrs & frequent checks need to be done to prevent the water from drying up. What happens if it runs dry? It will EXPLODE ! Oh dear, I am not ready to have a DDL ceiling in my kitchen ;P

I finally pluck up my courage to try making DDL & I am glad I did. It is not as difficult as I thought initially. Here it goes,

1) You need to purchase a can of full cream sweetened condensed milk from milkmaid from any supermarket.

2) Put the can of condensed milk into a big pot of water. Bring it to a boil & lowered it into a simmer. Ensure that water covers about 2cm above the can.

3) Simmered the can for 3-4hrs. Check on the water level so that it does not get dry up.

4) Let the can of milk cool down in the pot until the water is warm. Fished it out & let the can cool completely before opening it. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN A HOT OR WARM CAN!
