French Apple Tart


French Apple Tart
(recipe adapted fr My Kitchen Snippets

Ingredients: 
For the pastry:
1 cup plain flour
1 Tbsp sugar
85g cold salted butter, diced
1/4 cup ice water

For the apples:2 Granny Smith apples, peeled & sliced
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp cold butter - small diced  
Cinnamon powder
1 Tbsp apricot jam
1 Tbsp water

Method:
1. Pastry- Mix the flour & sugar in the bowl. Rub in butter until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add in the ice water & knead until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic & refrigerate for later use.

2. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Roll the dough to about 1/4" thick & place the dough in a tart pan.

3. Place overlapping slices of apples to top of the pastry until the pastry is covered with apple slices. Sprinkle with the sugar & cinnamon powder on top and dot with the butter.

4. Bake for 25mins or until the pastry is browned & the edges of the apples start to brown.

5. After removing Tart from oven, heat the apricot jelly together with water & brush the apples & the pastry completely with the jelly mixture.
